Membership By September 2011 the Romanian Health Psychology Association (RHPA) has increased the number of its members from 88 to 225. These are working in health promotion institutions, medical settings, research centers, NGOs and universities or are student members. Some of the RHPA members have also recently joined the EHPS due to the information materials provided and the use of the web page.
Participation at Conferences and seminars - June 2011: we organized the HBSC meeting in Cluj Napoca, Romania. - September 2011: 1 member attended the Synergy meeting in Creta. - September 2011: 14 members are attending the EHPS conference in Creta.
Research projects Ten projects have received funding through the RHPA and are currently functioning: 1. Health Behavior School Children 2. Social exclusion of institutionalized children, EU project in collaboration with Italy, France Latvia, Estonia and Bulgaria. 3. Optimizing quality of life in women with cardiovascular disease (in collaboration with the Medical University from Cluj, Romania) 4. Temptations to eat moderated by personal and environmental self-regulatory tools, FP7 project, financed by EU funds, collaborating with Holland, Germany, UK, Finland and Portugal 5. Improving quality and life and safety in the hospital: the link between organizational culture, burnout and quality of care, FP7 project in collaboration with Greece, Ireland and Bulgaria 6. Facilitating access of Romanian children and adolescents to high quality prevention services-promoting healthy eating patterns and physical activity among Romanian children and adolescents, in collaboration with Ministry of Health, financed by the Norwegian Government. (finished in 2011) 7. Protecting children in child protection systems, Daphne project, EU financing 8. Prevention of occupational stress and enhancing the adaptability of medical personnel through professional training and raising awareness through information campaigns, European structured funds 9. Investigating perceptions about the HPV vaccine in parents and medical personel. 10. Reducing procedural stress in children with cancer by using a therapeutic story intervention.
New courses The MA programs include two new courses in the field of health psychology: 1. Mental Health Promotion in Children and Adolescents 2. Health Promotion in Work Setting The MA program in Health Psychology had its first graduation class.
Internships May-September 2011: an internship program for psychology students took place inside the Pediatric Hospitals from Cluj Napoca.
Thesis in health psychology 10 BA theses, 25 MA theses in health psychology and one PhD thesis were defended. Three new PhD theses in health psychology are starting.
Training Seminars Training seminars for school teachers were held on the topic of health education in schools. Training seminars for dentists were held on the topic of stress management.
Publications by RHPA members -1 book on the intervention to increase physical activity and healthy eating behavior in children and adolescents appeared in June - Two articles are under review in international journals and 3 articles were published in international journals. - One therapeutic story book for children with cancer was published. |
