Approach for Reduction of Students’ Anxiety, Enhancing of Well-being and Harmonization of Mutual Relations

Abstract

Background. Implantation of integrative teaching methodology in pedagogical practice is based on the connecting and summarizing of knowledge from different subjects in order to promote the development of students’ personality. Methods. An Integrative Teaching Methodology was developed and used in 17 Latvia schools (14 general education and 3 special schools) during one study year. Questionnaire of 615 3-4, 5-7 and 8-12 grade students and 631 teachers was carried out before and after using of integrative teaching methodology. Findings. The results of investigation showed that different parameters of anxiety decreased and well-being increased in all age groups of general education school students after using of integrative teaching methodology. In schools of special education some parameters of anxiety decreased and well-being increased in all age groups. Changes in students’ mutual relations were observed as well after introduction of integrative teaching methodology: 3-4 grade students of special schools have become more open and supportive. Discussion. Using of integrative teaching methodology improve students well-being, decrease their anxiety and develop personality of students.
